"When the price difference between the two generally reaches a certain degree, customer groups will appear differentiation, and basically parallel". But two Indian friends disagree. They say:
1) Natural diamonds will become a Premium version of lab grown diamond, meeting some specific needs;
2) The customer groups of the two types of products are unified, because the same person may have different needs;
3) If the customer base is parallel, it may only be due to insufficient marketing.
1) For the factory, cultivated diamond and natural diamond blank are equal raw materials, and the final decision is which product to make, or the sales and market prospects of the finished diamond;
2) The current policies in India are helping to foster the development of the diamond industry, and the industry has strong confidence in the upstream production end. But some of the other policies in Budget 2023 are not so good, so it's hard to say what will happen if a government says something.
3) It is a general direction to develop independent production (including equipment, seed and blank).
Is it marketing wars that influence consumer decisions?
Most consumers still recognize natural diamonds, and the marketing battle between natural and lab grown diamond will continue. Eventually, cultivating diamonds could become a 'budget saving and beautiful' option.
These Indian friends do not seem to have the idea of 'dividing the consumer group'. Instead, they think 'the consumer group is unified, but needs change', even among young people. In other words, the 'people' as the target of propaganda should be unified, and their ideas will change with different times, occasions, needs, and the effect of marketing, but the people themselves will not be divided.
Interesting.
