CVD synthetic diamond single crystals are mostly slab-shaped, with small octahedral facets and rhombic dodecahedral facets occasionally seen on the sides. The color of the early CVD synthetic diamonds is mostly dark brown or light brown, while the recently discovered CVD synthetic diamonds are proved to be colorless or nearly colorless because they have undergone late high temperature heat treatment. CVD synthetic diamonds do not have metal inclusions and therefore are not magnetic. Early CVD radiant lab grown diamond show orange to orange-yellow fluorescence, CVD synthetic diamonds have typical layered growth structure, which is the main identification feature of CVD synthetic diamonds.
