  Lab diamonds are essentially cut and polished in a similar way to natural diamonds.

  Most of the major producers of natural diamonds require that diamonds mined within the country must be processed into finished diamonds in that country before they can be exported, thus increasing their employment opportunities and adding value to the diamonds. 

  A high proportion of lab diamonds are produced in China, and we can increase the value of lab diamonds by targeting large rough lab diamonds and leaving them in China to be cut and ground. Small to medium sized rough is not worth processing in China.

  The value of lab diamonds is much lower than that of natural diamonds, so we need to find ways to reduce costs when cutting and grinding them.

  Lab diamonds have a lower average cost than natural diamonds, large grains, good quality, and can almost always be cut and ground in Excellent ratios, polished, symmetrical, easily cut into various shaped and processed into various colours.

  CVD lab diamonds will be surrounded by polycrystals, and all polycrystals need to be completely removed with a laser before grinding the diamond, and then the CVD diamond is cut in the same way as natural diamonds. If the polycrystals are not completely eliminated during the initial cutting of the profile, later cutting and grinding will be very difficult, as each polycrystal is a diamond crystal in a different direction, making polishing difficult.

  All diamonds are polished on the automatic polishing machine at the end of each facet, when the edge of the jig makes contact with the grinding disc and conducts electricity, the machine knows that this facet has been polished and automatically lifts up to move to the next facet to continue polishing.

  However, colourless HPHT diamonds are inherently semiconducting and cannot be processed by an automatic polishing machine. It is possible to add an insulated ceramic sleeve, but this is more difficult to operate and is only suitable for rough bottoms and rough surfaces.
